US President Donald Trump said on March 27 that Cuba is the next target of the United States.

"Cuba is next, by the way," the American leader said speaking at the Future Investment Initiative event in Miami.

After that, he repeatedly asked the assembled journalists and the media to "pretend that he didn't say that" and ignore this statement.

Later, Trump repeated the statement, which he asked to forget and added that the United States would continue to defend its sovereignty and allies, despite attempts by "radical left-wing Democrats to block actions."

The New York Times reported on March 16 that the United States is seeking to remove Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel from power. It is noted that, according to American officials, the change of the head of state may pave the way for economic transformation in Cuba and the reform of certain sectors of the economy.

On March 17, Trump announced that the United States would soon take action against Cuba, and appropriate negotiations were underway. Earlier, he called it an honor to take control of Cuba: at the same time, the American leader added that he could "take or liberate" Cuba.
