Cybersecurity experts have identified a dangerous vulnerability in the Telegram messenger, which has been assigned the code ZDI-CAN-30207. This was announced on March 26 by the Zero Day Initiative, an independent vulnerability search program.

The posted notification states that the vulnerability was rated 9.8 out of 10 on the CVSS scale (an open standard for assessing the severity of software vulnerabilities. — Ed.).

Specific technical details were not disclosed. According to the rules of the program, the developer is given 120 days to fix it. At the moment, there have been no official comments from the messenger.

On October 11, 2025, former employee of the US National Security Agency Edward Snowden reported that the Telegram and WhatsApp messengers (part of Meta, the organization is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) are becoming tools in the hands of special services of Western states. According to him, in this regard, countries that do not belong to the Western bloc find themselves in unequal conditions. These messengers pose a threat to ordinary citizens and the authorities of non-Western countries.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
