Day of the Russian National Guard Troops

March 27 marked the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Rosgvardiya. On this day, her servicemen were personally congratulated by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Speaking at the State Kremlin Palace, Vladimir Putin noted the role of the Russian Guard in the fight against terrorism, extremism and, in general, in ensuring law and order. Rosgvardiya soldiers are actively involved in their own activities.

— Our comrades are fighting for Russia, at this very minute they are in combat positions, on firing lines, confidently conducting difficult combat work. This is a righteous fight for a peaceful, free, and safe life for our children and grandchildren on their land. For the sacred historical right of our people to speak their native language, honor their ancestors, true heroes, and cherish the precepts and faith of their fathers, grandfathers, and great—grandfathers," the President said.

Earlier in the day, the Russian leader held a Security Council meeting on Russia's foreign policy towards Europe. Vladimir Putin recalled that the war would not have begun if the European countries and the previous American administration had not supported the coup in Ukraine in 2014.

And at a ceremony in the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin presented Viktor Zolotov, the head of the Russian Guard, with a personal standard. The President noted that over the 10 years of the department's work, more than 380,000 employees have received awards. Since the beginning of his career, 20 Russian guardsmen have been awarded the title of Hero of Russia. Among them is Lieutenant Colonel Alexey Mishchenko. In March 2022, in a battle with superior enemy forces, he skillfully led a unit, as a result of which more than 50 AFU fighters, three mortar crews, two command and staff vehicles and a communications center were destroyed.

— Rosgvardiya is at the forefront of the fight against terrorism and extremism. In particular, we carry out our own tasks. If we take the beginning of our military, I think that not a single commander of the armed forces group will say that somewhere and at some time the Rosgvardiya did not help them," Alexey Mishchenko told Izvestia.
