The Federation Council stated that the United States has no chance of Nord Streams
The United States will not be able to gain control over the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, as Moscow fully manages these projects and is not obliged to take into account Washington's wishes. Vladimir Dzhabarov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee, said this on Friday, March 27.
According to him, the statements of the American side about possible control over pipelines have no practical basis, writes "Газета.Ru ".
The senator stressed that Russia remains a sovereign state and will proceed from its own interests.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the legal situation around the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines is complicated, RT reports.
He noted that Nord Streams was an international company with the participation of foreign companies, many of them withdrew. The ownership of these pipes remains, it belongs to the Russian company Gazprom.
According to him, it is obvious that the United States is seeking to take control of the international energy infrastructure.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on March 26 that the United States had expressed a desire to appropriate the Russian Nord Stream and Nord Stream–2 gas pipelines. Lavrov also pointed to the lack of reaction and complete inaction on the part of the West to the undermining of gas pipelines by Ukrainian saboteurs. He noted that any attempts by the United States to single-handedly dispose of gas pipelines contradict the norms of international law.
George Papadopoulos, former adviser to US President Donald Trump, said on March 23 that Washington was interested in possible investments in the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline projects. According to him, after the lifting of sanctions, Russian-American cooperation may begin to recover, including in the energy sector.
