- The State Duma warned about the risks of tightening the rules of daily apartment rental
The initiative of the Russian Union of Tourism Industry to equate apartments and apartments with tourist accommodation facilities may seriously affect the accessibility of domestic tourism for Russians. This opinion was expressed by Sergey Krivonosov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourism Infrastructure Development, in an interview with Izvestia.
"It is important to maintain a balance here. If you approach the market harshly and overregulate it, it can reduce the availability of recreation. But if we introduce a soft legalization model with minimal requirements, the market will remain accessible," the deputy stressed.
This is important because for many families, renting an apartment is the only way to travel, he said.
The parliamentarian also drew attention to the possible consequences for the real estate market if the government strengthens regulation of short-term rental housing.
"The situation here is two-sided. On the one hand, limiting the daily rent may bring some apartments back to the long-term rental market and stabilize prices. On the other hand, excessive pressure may lead to owners compensating for costs by raising rental rates," the source warned.
