A crisis psychologist listed the signs of car addiction
Crisis psychologist Varvara Likunova told on Friday, March 27, what are the signs of car addiction, why it happens, and what risks it carries.
She noted that the first alarm signal is the appearance of stress at the thought that the car has broken down, there is no parking or you will have to take public transport.
"The second is the habit of getting behind the wheel, even for a short distance, when walking is really faster. The third is the feeling of vulnerability without a car, as if you are safe and in control of the situation only behind the wheel," the specialist explained in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
She added that several factors influence the appearance of such dependence, and above all social factors, since the car has long become a symbol of freedom, independence and status.
"It's easier to handle traffic jams, bad weather, general chaos, and even other people while driving," Likunova said.
According to the expert, the biological aspect is also important— the brain remembers the pleasure of speed, music in the cabin and a sense of control. In addition, for some, the car is part of self-esteem, so a temporary rejection of it can cause irritation and even a feeling of inferiority, the psychologist added.
Likunova noted that constant movement by car adds inactivity to the life of a modern person. The psychological state is negatively affected by constant thoughts about parking, traffic jams, gasoline prices, repairs, and so on.
"The more time a person spends with a car, the less live communication they have. A critical manifestation of such dependence can be anxiety reactions and even withdrawal symptoms if a person is temporarily unable to drive," she explained.
The psychologist suggested a simple test — try to live one day without a car, and if it seems unbearable or impossible, it's time to regain control of your habits, Likunova concluded.
On March 24, auto expert Dmitry Popov and auto lawyer Dmitry Slavnov said that registration documents for a car must be updated when the owner's personal data changes, such as last name or place of residence, otherwise they may be considered invalid.
Earlier, on March 18, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reminded that after buying a car, it must be registered with the State Traffic Inspectorate within 10 days. It is necessary to pass state registration for this period even if the car was inherited, RT reports.
The federal law also emphasizes that in case of non-receipt of registration plates, it is necessary to contact their manufacturer immediately after registering the car.
