On March 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke at a gala evening on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Federal Service of the Russian National Guard Troops (Rosgvardiya) at the State Kremlin Palace. The main topics of his speech were the work of the service and its personnel. The main statements of the Russian leader are in the material of Izvestia.
About the work of the Rosgvardiya
The President of Russia personally congratulated the personnel of the Rosgvardiya and the veterans of the structures that joined it 10 years ago on their professional holiday. During his speech, he noted that Rosgvardiya has become a reliable, necessary link in the system of ensuring the safety of citizens, society and the whole country.
He added that the departments and structures that formed Rosgvardiya ten years ago helped the new service to become a powerful independent force, and also, preserving the accumulated experience and traditions, helped to quickly and efficiently go through the initial stage of formation.
The Head of State also pointed out that the Rosgvardiya's area of direct responsibility is the civilian circulation of weapons, their accounting, control, and regular inspections.
"Strategic infrastructure facilities and special cargo on key strategic routes are under your protection, which is important for public administration, economic development, and stable energy supply to enterprises, cities, and towns in our large country," Putin said.
On the fight against terrorism
The Head of State noted the Rosgvardiya's special contribution to the fight against terrorism.
"I would like to note the Rosgvardiya's special contribution to the fight against terrorism and extremism, and crime in general, including its most dangerous manifestations, organized groups, and drug trafficking," the president said.
The Russian leader also added that Rosgvardiya must do everything to minimize damage from any criminal, sabotage, hostile actions against Russia, as well as protect people's lives and health.
"Together with the Armed Forces, colleagues from other relevant departments, regional and local authorities, it is necessary to respond to urgent threats without delay. There are a lot of them, and you know about it," Putin emphasized.
About the participants of the SVO
During his speech, the Russian leader also noted that the participants of the SVR are fighting for Russia and confidently carry out difficult combat work.
"Our comrades are fighting for Russia, at this very minute they are in combat positions on the fiery borders, confidently conducting difficult combat work. This is a righteous struggle for a peaceful, free, and safe life for our children and grandchildren on their own land, for the sacred historical right of our people to speak their native language, honor their ancestors, true heroes, and cherish the precepts and faith of their fathers, grandfathers, and great—grandfathers," the President emphasized.
About the standard
The Russian President also presented the head of the Russian Guard Viktor Zolotov with the personal standard of the Director of the Federal Service of the National Guard of the Russian Federation and called it a special badge of distinction.
"The presented standard, as well as the banner, flag, and emblem of the Russian Guard, will become another symbol of the continuity of traditions in the law enforcement forces," Putin said.
