The dog handler gave advice on choosing a veterinarian
Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, told how to understand that a veterinarian is not suitable for a pet.
In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, March 27, the specialist said that even good reviews and the external cleanliness of the clinic do not guarantee safety for a pet. According to him, the high-profile case of the death of a Pomeranian in a seemingly reliable clinic showed how important it is to choose specialists more carefully.
He stressed that unsanitary conditions are a serious alarm signal: dirty surfaces and non—sterile tools increase the risk of infection. At the same time, you should focus not only on the rating of the clinic, but on reviews about a particular doctor, his experience and openness.
The expert also drew attention to the importance of communication: the doctor should clearly explain the diagnosis and treatment, be attentive to the animal and calmly interact with it without harsh methods, writes RT.
Separately, he noted that prescriptions without tests and the imposition of services should be alarming — the specialist is obliged to honestly explain the treatment options and their consequences. In addition, the doctor and the clinic must provide educational documents, licenses and certificates. He added that in case of the slightest doubt, you should trust your feelings and, if necessary, seek a second opinion.
Veterinarian Adelina Popova on March 25 called pills the most reliable protection of a pet from ticks. The active substance of the special preparation is absorbed from the intestine into the blood and circulates in the body for up to 1-3 months. Drops on the withers also protect the animal, but are considered less effective, and sprays and collars are better used as an additional measure, notes 360.ru .
Mikhail Shelyakov, a veterinarian of the highest category, said on March 24 in an interview with NSN that a one-month shift in vaccination would not lead to problems with the pet's health if this was not the first vaccination. Meanwhile, he noted that if you stop vaccinating cats and dogs for a year, for example, against rabies, it will be dangerous.
In February, veterinarian Taisiya Ilyina told Izvestia that before getting a pet, it is necessary to assess your budget, life circumstances, and the availability of additional time to ensure the comfort of the animal. In particular, she advised to study and memorize the basic parameters of the pet's health beforehand.
