Interest in cars from expensive segments has grown in Russia

Since the beginning of 2026, there has been a noticeable increase in interest in new cars in the price range from 3 to 5 million rubles and from 5 to 8 million rubles in Russia. Avito Auto experts told Izvestia about this on March 28.

According to experts, the share of interest in cars worth 3-5 million rubles increased to 28.7% (+3.3 percentage points per year). The average cost of cars in this price segment remained at the same level — 3.8 million rubles. The top five popular models were the Jetour T1 (4.1% share), followed by the Chery Tiggo 9, Huanghai N7, Exeed RX and Jaecoo J7.

The popularity of models in the price segment from 5 to 8 million rubles also increased: the share of interest was 9.5% (+3.2 percentage points), and the average price was 6.3 million rubles. In January-February 2026, the top 5 were Voyah Free (5.8%), Exeed RX, Exeed Exlantix ET, Foton Tunland V9 and Exeed VX.

In the category of cars worth more than 8 million rubles, the share of interest reached 6.4%. The average price in the segment was 14.3 million rubles, and the most sought-after car was the Zeekr 9X with a 4% share of interest.

The segment of cars worth 1-3 million rubles remains the most popular, accounting for 52.2% of user interest. The average price of such cars in 2026 decreased by 3% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 2.1 million rubles. The domestic Lada Granta is the leader here (9.4% interest share), followed by Tenet T4, Lada Niva Legend, Haval Jolion and Lada Niva Travel.

Earlier, on March 25, it was reported that the Lada Niva Legend SUV turned out to be the leader in the rating of models with the best residual value among three-year-old cars on the Russian market. This indicator reflects how much of the average price of a new car the model retains upon resale, and helps to estimate the "cost of ownership" even at the stage of choosing a car.
