The allergen bloom season has begun in Russia. To protect themselves, allergy sufferers need to monitor pollen monitoring, carry an "alarm" first-aid kit, use nose filters and sunglasses. This was told to Izvestia by an allergologist, head of the allergology department at the W Clinic in St. Petersburg, Ten Myung Su.

The doctor emphasized that a comfortable existence with pollen is possible only with an integrated approach.

"To comfortably coexist with pollen on the street, it is enough to use daily therapy prescribed by a doctor and adhere to certain rules: keep track of pollen monitoring, try to avoid places with large concentrations of pollen: gardens, parks, forests. It also makes sense to use nose filters and sunglasses," the expert recommended.

Outdoor enthusiasts should be especially careful. Doctors warn that physical education and sports during the flowering season can negate all precautions.

"During physical exertion, the amount of air passing through the respiratory tract increases significantly. Along with this air, the amount of pollen increases, which interacts with the mucous membrane of these respiratory tract," Dmitry Vologzhanin, MD, allergist and immunologist, told Izvestia.

For those who are still planning a trip to nature, the main requirement is the availability of an "alarm kit". Experts emphasize that situational pill intake may not be enough, especially if the allergy is complicated by bronchial asthma.

"As a rule, occasional antihistamines are sufficient, but they can only be an addition to the main therapy. If you have bronchial asthma, it is strongly recommended to take a basic therapy drug with you (the one you use every day during the flowering season). It is usually an anti—inflammatory drug in combination with a bronchodilator," said allergist Ten Myung-soo.
