In 2026, Rosatom State Corporation plans to prepare a national program for providing uranium to the nuclear power industry of the future. This was announced on March 27 by the company's CEO Alexey Likhachev.

"Rosatom plans to develop a national uranium program in 2026," the Telegram channel of the newspaper Strana Rosatom says.

According to the head of the state corporation, it will be focused both on the internal needs of the country and on strengthening its position at the global level.

"[The program will] work for the interests of the global market, in which we must maintain our presence," Likhachev concluded at the annual conference of nuclear industry executives.

On March 19, Likhachev announced that Russia plans to create a nuclear power plant on the Moon with a capacity of at least 5 kW with an operational life of up to ten years. According to him, Rosatom, the Kurchatov Institute and Roscosmos are already working together to determine the shape of the future station. At the same time, the head of the state corporation noted that various options for lunar energy are being considered.
