UAZ reports on testing of the updated Patriot
Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant is currently conducting resource tests of the updated UAZ Patriot SUV in urban conditions and on country roads. On March 30, the press service of the enterprise told Izvestia about how the tests are being conducted.
Two copies of the UAZ Patriot are participating in mileage tests at a distance of 100,000 km using a technique that makes it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of the neutralizer. Every 10-15 thousand km, control measurements of the toxicity level are carried out in the laboratory of the Motor testing center of the Zavolzhsky branch of UAZ.
Two more Patriots are involved in another set of tests at a distance of 100,000 km to test components and assemblies in general, with a special focus on the reliability of the engine, gearbox and transfer case. The route, in particular, provides for areas with difficult conditions — roads with broken tracks, viscous soil, as well as full-fledged off-road. According to the test engineers, there were no abnormal situations during operation.
During 2025 and in January 2026, UAZ conducted calibration tests related to the engine control unit in hot climates (in the city of Elista) and highlands (Kislovodsk, Elbrus region), as well as in conditions of low winter temperatures in Ulyanovsk and the Ulyanovsk region. The diesel internal combustion engine with the software implemented as a result received a certificate of conformity according to UN Regulation No. 83-06 (Type 1) concerning emissions of pollutants.
Earlier, on February 11, UAZ announced the winter testing of a domestic diesel engine, which will appear on the Patriot, Pickup and Pro models. We are talking about a two-liter power unit with a capacity of 136 horsepower (hp), which is being produced in Yelabuga. This motor has the Sollers 550010 index.
