The court sentenced 59-year-old journalist and political scientist Sergei Medvedev in absentia (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation), sentencing him to 11 years and 6 months in prison. This was announced on March 27 by the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office in the MAX messenger.

"The criminal case was considered by the court in accordance with the general procedure of criminal proceedings in the absence of Medvedev, who is wanted," the report says.

Medvedev was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("evading the duties of a foreign agent"). Having been brought to administrative responsibility twice for the lack of labeling of a foreign agent, he continued to distribute materials on the Web without appropriate instructions.

It is noted that the final term was determined based on the totality of sentences. He is also banned from administering Internet resources for five years. Medvedev will serve his sentence in a general regime penal colony.

On March 25, film critic and journalist Ekaterina Barabash (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) was sentenced to five years in a penal colony for spreading fakes about the Russian army. According to the defender, she was also banned from administering Internet sites for three years after her release.
