A peaceful solution to the conflict in the Middle East is not possible in the near future. This was announced on March 27 by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.

"We all hope for a peaceful resolution of any conflict. I think that in the near future, no matter how sad it may sound, it is impossible. Because the forces involved in it are in an extremely antagonistic position," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to Medvedev, if the conflict continues, the Middle East will become a long-term hotbed of instability that can persist for centuries. He also stressed that the United States, in the conflict with Iran, convinced the Gulf countries that Washington was protecting only its own interests and those of Israel.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump said that the United States had already won the war with Iran. He also announced the suspension of strikes on the energy infrastructure of the Islamic Republic for 10 days.

The New York Times reported on March 25 that the United States had sent a 15-point peace plan through Pakistan to Iran. The proposed plan covers aspects related to the Islamic Republic's missile and nuclear programs, as well as freedom of navigation.

In turn, Tehran has sent an official response to the conflict settlement plan proposed by Washington and is awaiting the reaction of the White House. It was noted that Iran demands that the war not be repeated, as well as the payment of reparations and guarantees of peace.
