The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia (IC), Alexander Bastrykin, has opened a criminal case against a retired judge of the Tver Regional Court for fraud. This was announced on March 27 by the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

"Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin, with the consent of the Higher Qualification Board of Judges of the Russian Federation, has initiated a criminal case on fraud, that is, theft of other people's property by deception committed by a person using his official position, on an especially large scale, against retired Tver Regional Court judge Vladimir Kolpikov," the agency said in a messenger message. It is emphasized that a criminal case has been opened against Kolpikov in accordance with Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale or resulting in the deprivation of a citizen's right to housing").

On February 4, Bastrykin demanded that a criminal case be opened against Vladimir Kolpikov, a judge of the Tver Regional Court, for fraud on an especially large scale. According to investigators, in 2022, the judge, having learned about the investigation by the Russian Interior Ministry of a criminal case against two residents of Tver, contacted their lawyers and suggested that the case be reclassified under less serious articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Kolpikov received a total of 10 million rubles from relatives of the accused.
