A clinical psychologist spoke about the causes of ludomania.
The key difference between a ludoman and a person who is just addicted to games is a loss of control. Clinical psychologist Tatiana Meteleva told Izvestia about this.
"The game ceases to be entertainment, but becomes a way of escaping reality, turns into obsessive behavior that a person can no longer stop, even if it destroys his life," she said.
The emotions that arise from the anticipation of the game capture a person so much that he is no longer able to control them, the expert explained.
"The classic prerequisites of ludomania are upbringing and the family system. At the same time, ludomaniacs grow up both in families with overprotective care, where they were not taught to be responsible for the consequences of their actions, and with emotionally cold parents," the source said.
There are many family scenarios that lead to the development of addictions. Among them, the specialist identified the triangulation of children — situations when a child is involved in parental conflicts or is given roles and functions that do not belong to him.
