The endocrinologist revealed the reason for uneven weight loss
With a strict diet, the face and decollete area lose weight faster than the hips and stomach, endocrinologist Galina Smirnova told Izvestia. Such a complaint is often voiced by the specialist's patients.
"Weight loss is uneven because the adipose tissue in each area is arranged differently and reacts differently to calorie deficiency, hormones and physical activity. The face and breast area in women often visually change faster, because there are fewer dense fat depots, and the volumes are more noticeable even with a slight weight loss," the doctor explained.
In addition, the face reacts quickly to a decrease in the total amount of fluid, salt, and carbohydrates, she added. Therefore, the first changes during weight loss may be associated not only with fat, but also with a decrease in puffiness.
The "belly and thighs "go away" more slowly due to the fact that the adipose tissue in these areas is more resistant to mobilization. Some areas are more strongly influenced by hormones, genetics, and the initial type of fat deposition," the source said.
Women's thighs and buttocks often belong to the so-called gynoid type of fat accumulation, representing biologically more stable reserves, Smirnova emphasized. However, some people may have a smaller belly first. It all depends on the individual characteristics of the physiology.
