The expert named the main mistakes when buying package tours
Attempts to save money and inattention to details often lead to additional expenses and ruined rest. On March 30, Yana Klimakova, premium travel expert at Adventura, told Izvestia about the typical mistakes tourists make when buying package tours and explained how to avoid them.
One of the common problems is choosing an untested travel agency. Contacting little-known intermediaries may result in a lack of complete information about the trip and hidden conditions. The expert advises to study the reviews in advance and clarify all the details of the tour.
"An equally important factor remains a careful study of the package's composition. Tourists often do not check whether the transfer is on, what kind of meals are provided, and whether the room meets the stated specifications. As a result, unpleasant surprises arise on the spot," the specialist explained.
Klimakova called the refusal of medical insurance a serious mistake. According to her, savings on insurance can lead to significant costs in case of illness or injury abroad.
Tourists also often encounter problems during the flight. In particular, baggage allowances are not taken into account: the package may include only hand luggage or a limited weight. Surcharges at the airport are much higher, and on some flights there is no possibility to purchase luggage at all.
The expert drew special attention to the limitations when choosing seats on the plane. On flights of foreign airlines, this service may not be available or require payment by bank card, which is why passengers risk being left without comfortable seats.
Klimakova also warned against buying tours on your own without sufficient experience. According to her, in such cases, tourists often miss important details — from insurance to transfers — and are left without support when problems arise.
"In addition, one of the most common causes of discontent is the discrepancy between expectations and reality when choosing a hotel. Photos and descriptions do not always reflect the current state, so it is recommended to focus on real reviews and expert advice," the specialist concluded.
On February 20, S-club experts reported that for a profitable trip across Russia, northern destinations should be chosen in winter, the cities of the Golden Ring in spring, the Baltic Sea and food tours in the south of the country in summer, and cultural routes in autumn. To minimize costs, experts advised to be flexible and monitor airline and railway stocks.
