- It became known about a possible increase in duties on alcohol from unfriendly countries
Starting in May, Russia may raise the import duty on strong alcohol from unfriendly countries from €3 to €5 per liter of alcohol in a drink. This was reported on March 27 by the newspaper Kommersant.
"This measure may be announced as early as April," the publication says.
It is specified that currently, since September 2024, the Russian Federation has a duty on strong alcohol from unfriendly countries in the amount of 20% of the customs value of products, but not less than € 3 per 1 liter of alcohol.
On March 19, expert Oleg Pavlov explained the reduction in sales of low-alcohol products by an increase in excise taxes. According to him, the average price of a can of low-alcohol cocktail has increased by about 15-25% compared to last year.
