Xi Jinping congratulates Kim Jong-un on his re-election as head of the State Council of the DPRK

On March 26, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on the occasion of his re-election as head of the State Council of the DPRK. This was reported on March 27 by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

"Having received the joyful news that you have been re—elected chairman of the State Committee for North Korean Affairs, <...> I extend my sincere congratulations to you," KCNA quoted him as saying.

Xi Jinping noted that he expects the DPRK to make further progress in developing its socialist course. He stressed that the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK is an important common asset of the two countries.
