Western sanctions aimed at Russia are harming the West itself, not Russia. This was announced on March 27 by the head of the ruling Union of Independent Social Democrats party in Republika Srpska Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik.

"It is clear that these sanctions are doing more harm to those who imposed them than to Russia. Of course, it would be better if they did not exist, so that people, states and peoples could work freely, without any possibility of preventing them from doing so," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Retired Jacques Bo, a former NATO adviser and colonel of the General Staff of the Swiss Armed Forces, said on March 20 that Western countries would have to admit defeat in their attempts to put pressure on Russia and Iran through sanctions and military action.
