In Poland, unemployed alcoholics are eligible for a monthly allowance. This was announced on March 27 by the Office of Social Insurance (ZUS) of Poland.

"Now people suffering from alcoholism and who are disabled for this reason are entitled to a monthly allowance, the amount of which depends on the degree of disability caused by alcoholism," RIA Novosti quoted the department as saying.
