Russians were warned about calls from scammers on behalf of alleged employees of the clinic

Fraudsters, posing as employees of polyclinics, insurance companies, and the Unified Medical Information and Analytical System (EMIAS), call Russians to extract the victims' passport and SNILS information or force them to follow phishing links. This was announced on March 27 by the head of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, Sergei Leonov.

"If you receive a call from the polyclinic allegedly with an invitation to a medical examination and a request to provide your passport and SNILS information for this, then hang up immediately. In any case, do not give any personal information. Moreover, never mention the text message code allegedly to confirm an appointment with a doctor — these are scammers. It's better to hang up right away, find the polyclinic's phone number on the website and call back directly," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

It is clarified that there is another divorce strategy. The calls allegedly come from the insurance company, which informs them that people are in danger of losing free medical care and demand to extend the policy over the phone, asking them to give the code from the SMS. According to Leonov, the attackers also call from EMIAS with information about outdated data, advising them to download a mobile application. The expert advises never to continue the conversation and immediately end the call.

On February 27, RIA Novosti reported that fraudsters had begun adding Russians to fake polyclinic chats and, under the pretext of confirming their attachment to a medical facility, extorting their personal data. The attackers create fake chats in instant messengers, add a victim to them and ask them to confirm their affiliation with a medical organization. After the person's consent, they send a link to an alleged questionnaire to confirm the data. However, this link leads to a phishing site.
