Elena Tsareva, a somnologist and head of the somnological service, explained why many people experience drowsiness in the spring.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Thursday, March 26, the specialist noted that an increase in daylight hours is a powerful synchronizer of biorhythms, so with the arrival of spring, it usually becomes easier for people to wake up. If this does not happen, it may indicate accumulated problems in the body.

According to her, a more cheerful state with an increase in daylight hours is considered the norm, and persistent drowsiness has its own reasons. Among the main ones are vitamin deficiencies (including vitamin D, iron, B vitamins, and iodine), exacerbation of anxiety and depression, and the habit of "wintering" when people continue to darken rooms and deprive themselves of morning light.

The expert also noted that in such cases it is worth reviewing household habits, for example, letting in more daylight, as sometimes simple measures can improve well-being. In addition, insomnia in the spring, in her opinion, may be associated with the same deficits, anxiety and sleep hygiene disorders.

Earlier in the day, somnologist, PhD Sofia Cherkasova, in an interview with RT, noted that daytime sleepiness in early spring is associated with vitamin D deficiency. According to the expert, in the autumn-winter period, many people develop seasonal affective disorder due to a reduction in daylight hours. 360.ru .

On March 16, somnologist Vladimir Kovalzon told NSN that with age, the daily routine becomes vital for a person. According to him, you need to go to bed and get up at about the same time. He stressed that an alarm clock is an undesirable thing in its essence, if a person lives in the same rhythm, then he will get up in the morning and without "frightening" signals.

In February, Alena Gavrilova, a member of the Association of Somnologists and a doctor at the sleep medicine department, told how to quickly get rid of drowsiness. The most effective way to tone the body is physical activity: muscle work helps the brain to wake up faster.

Earlier Pravda.Ru She wrote that daytime sleepiness is most often associated with a banal lack of sleep: it can occur due to night shifts, sleepless nights due to stress or an active lifestyle, as well as due to sleep-disrupting diseases such as restless legs syndrome, apnea, chronic pain, itching or sleepwalking. With insufficient or intermittent night rest, the body tries to compensate for the lack of energy during the day, causing drowsiness.
