- The State Duma called on the EU countries to think about the risks of helping Ukraine.
Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma's Defense Committee, spoke about the responsibility for Lithuania and other NATO countries' assistance in Ukraine's attacks on Russian cities.
Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian UAV, which participated in the attack on the Leningrad region, fell into a Lithuanian lake due to a possible navigation malfunction caused by electronic warfare. Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginene noted that the country's reaction was restrained. Experts believe that this case indicates the use of routes through NATO countries.
"The reaction is understandably very restrained: Kiev is Lithuania's friend, and the Baltic States are currently the most active in this regard. In Latvia, by the way, a drone also recently crashed near Kraslava. I know this place well. For some reason, they presented this Ukrainian drone to our temporary attorney. In general, it's an interesting story," Kolesnik said in an interview with aif.ru Thursday, March 26th.
The parliamentarian noted that the West tries to make claims against Russia in any situation. He believes that the Baltic states and other states in the northwestern region, including Poland, are trying to avoid possible retaliatory claims for arms supplies to Ukraine and, according to Kolesnik, they should think about the consequences of producing weapons that are used against the Russian military.
The parliamentarian also expressed the opinion that instead of diplomatic statements, these countries should pay more attention to the possible risks associated with their actions.
Earlier in the day, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that the Ukrainian UAV that crashed and exploded in Lithuania was initially heading towards the city of Primorsk in the Leningrad region, but deviated from the set course.
On March 24, in just three hours over the regions of Russia, the air defense forces destroyed 139 UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ukrainian UAVs were shot down in the period from 20:00 to 23:00 Moscow time in the sky over Bryansk, Smolensk, Kaluga, Novgorod, Leningrad regions, Moscow region and Crimea, IA Regnum notes.
On the same day, Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas announced that a stray Ukrainian drone had crashed in Lithuania. The incident occurred on the night of March 23. Local residents reported the sound of a flying object, after which it fell and exploded. Military radars did not detect it, presumably due to the low flight altitude, which was about 300 m, the website reports. kp.ru . At the same time, Kaunas announced that radars for detecting low-flying drones had been ordered, but had not yet been delivered, RIAMO said.
In August last year, fragments of a Ukrainian drone were found in an explosion crater in Estonia. As a result of the fall and detonation of the UAV, none of the local residents were injured. 360.ru . Also last year, a Lithuanian drone crashed in Belarus, it turned out to be a reconnaissance drone, writes RT.
