An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 was recorded in Nicaragua. This was confirmed on the evening of March 26 by data on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

The seismic event was located at a depth of 156 km. It occurred 236 km south-east of the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa with a population of 850 thousand people and 15 km west-south-southwest of the Nicaraguan capital Managua, which is home to 973,000 people. The tremors were recorded at 11:15 a.m. local time (20:15 a.m. Moscow time).

At the moment, there is no information about the damage or injuries caused by the incident.

On March 26, the newspaper Voria learned about an earthquake of magnitude 4.9, which, being recorded in northern Greece, destroyed the buildings of monasteries, monasteries and cells on Mount Athos.
