33 thousand tons of fresh vegetables were harvested in greenhouses near Moscow
More than 33.5 thousand tons of vegetables have been harvested in greenhouse complexes in the Moscow region since the beginning of 2026. Such figures are provided by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.
The main part of the harvest traditionally fell on cucumbers — 22.4 thousand tons were harvested. 10.5 thousand tons of tomatoes and 509 tons of green crops were also harvested, the online publication Podmoskovye Segodnya writes.
In addition, farmers grow peppers and eggplants indoors. The greenhouses are equipped with climate control, irrigation, nutrition, automatic temperature, humidity and lighting control systems.
The total area of greenhouse complexes in the region is 228 hectares. Among the largest farms are "Agroculture Group" in Kashira, "Lukhovitskie vegetables" in Lukhovitsy and "Central Market" from Elektrostal.
Earlier it was reported that 7.7 thousand tons of frozen mushrooms and vegetables (except potatoes) were produced in the Moscow region in 2025. In total, the region accounts for 6.6% of the volume produced in Russia.
