- A military expert predicted the consequences of a possible US ground operation in Iran
A ground operation in Iran could have very negative consequences for the United States. Andrei Koshkin, a retired colonel and head of the Department of Political Analysis at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, warned about this on Thursday, March 26.
According to the expert, the United States is not optimistic about the news of a possible ground operation in Iran, as many understand that it is possible to get bogged down in this conflict.
"The United States wants to seize the island through which the entire flow of oil from Iran is controlled, but this operation may be extremely unsuccessful," the colonel said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
Koshkin noted that the Iranian Armed Forces are ready for a ground operation much more than for mutual missile strikes with such powerful powers as Israel and the United States.
"The prospects for Americans are not very good. Iran will not cede the island because it is the main point regulating supplies. And the Americans will not be able to stay on this island for long, because the Iranians will beat it fiercely. It will be a blazing island," the expert concluded.
Earlier in the day, The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States was preparing a ground offensive on Iranian territory that could be launched in the coming days.
CNN reported on March 25 that the Iranian side is strengthening the defense of Kharq Island to protect against a possible ground operation by the United States. It was clarified that Tehran had relocated man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) to the island.
Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou reported on March 25 that US President Donald Trump, with his talk about alleged negotiations with Iran, was distracting attention from a possible ground operation in the region.
