The April premieres of the TV series are perfectly balanced on a gender basis: there are both male brutal action films, and thrillers such as "Prints" and "Anger", and female melodramas and dramedies — welcome to "Flower Lake" and "Miniature Wife". Those who dream of the success of their startup will surely enjoy the series "Audacity", which reveals the unsightly underside of Silicon Valley. And of course, football fans won't miss the Zenit Forever documentary series. Izvestia reports on the most interesting new TV series in April.

Yana Knyazeva grew up in an orphanage, where she acquired a heightened sense of justice. Now she works for the Investigative Committee, hunting down those who harm the weak and defenseless. When Yana finds out that the families of graduates of her orphanage are mysteriously dying in the city where she grew up, she immediately goes to Zarechny to join the investigation. Denis Simonov, the captain of the Zarechny police, joins the case. At first, he and Yana can't find a common language: Knyazeva finds the local investigation slow and unwieldy, Denis considers the lieutenant from the capital to be an upstart who only knows how to command. Little by little, they learn to cooperate for the sake of a common cause — but the closer they get to the goal, the clearer it becomes that someone is ready to do anything to ensure that the truth, which has been hidden for years, remains a secret...

If in Hollywood blockbusters, women in uniform usually seem to have just left an expensive beauty salon, then in domestic TV series, the investigators and experts seemed to spend the night in cars: hungry eyes, sharp cheekbones and an indispensable nest on their heads. However, for Oksana Akinshina ("One Call Bar", "The Chicks", noted in the Russian rating of TV series from Medialogia), who played Knyazeva, the image of a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown is familiar, and she plays it clearly, without kinks. A policeman played by Dmitry Chebotarev ("Fitness", included in the same rating of "Vampires of the Middle lane") wears an Olympic jacket as a trademark of provinciality, and when leaving for work, he receives a cookie in his teeth from his pregnant wife and the instruction: "Be sure to wear a bulletproof vest!" But multigenrealism is in fashion now, maybe the producers decided, that without a comedic touch, there will be no such peppercorn in the series. Peppercorn can be endured: without it, a well-shot detective thriller will undoubtedly delight fans of the genre.

Olga got married as a student and at the same time said goodbye to her professional ambitions, devoting herself to taking care of her husband and children. But her husband Denis supported his wife's dream of the future by offering her to open her own store, Flower Lake. Here, in her first business, Olga learned how to make decisions, plan a few steps ahead, and chart the trajectory of her own destiny on her own. Denis's sudden death in a car accident split her life in half: together with her lover, Olga lost financial stability, confidence in the future, her own business and habitual ideas about her own future. From now on, she had to answer not only for herself, but also for the children. Olga decides to leave the city and return to her homeland, to the countryside, in order to start living there with a clean slate.

"Flower Lake" is a typical female melodrama set in the typical family landscape of the Russian middle zone: there is a mailbox with rust spots on a slightly sagging fence, slightly faded wallpaper is shyly covered with a red carpet, and negative characters are immediately identified by their groomed hairstyles and attempts to wear a scarf in the European manner. But the constant modesty of the setting only underscores the chaste tenacity of hope that life will eventually work out. And this hope is the main thing for a woman.

Zenit Forever

This documentary series is as intense as any feature film. The authors will guide their viewers through the key moments of the legendary Zenit St. Petersburg football club, making true football fans feel the joy of victories, the bitterness of defeats, the strained nerves of crises, and the hoarse breathing of fan skirmishes... The audience will once again meet with football stars from different eras, learn more about those who made Zenit a legend — about players, coaches, managers and the most loyal fans, for whom Zenit is not just a club, but a significant part of life. Among the participants of the film are Sergey Semak, Andrey Arshavin, Vladislav Radimov, Alexander and Mikhail Kerzhakov, Artyom Dzyuba and many others, whose names are forever inscribed in the history of Russian football — and, of course, the Zenit club.

No one plays in this series: people tell their story, inextricably linked with the history of the legendary club, and so do the documentaries, which bring back the unique atmosphere of the brightest football matches on the screen. Someone from the audience will remember their youth, someone will decide to go to a football match on the weekend, and, of course, even Muscovites will be able to understand why Zenit is so loved in St. Petersburg.

Lindy (Elizabeth Banks — "The Clinic," "Perfect Voice") and Les (Matthew McFadyen— "Pride and Prejudice," "Robin Hood") have been married for a long time and already seem to have forgotten what brought them together. Their life is a constant series of unsuccessful compromises that neither spouse is happy with, endless reproaches and claims against each other. However, the usual pattern of relationships breaks down in an instant when Les, an experimental scientist, accidentally reduces his spouse. Now Lindy's height does not exceed 15 centimeters, the toy car becomes a real means of transportation for her, and the miniature shelving can become a three-story villa. While Les is feverishly trying to figure out a way to return his wife to her normal size, he has to rebuild his relationship with Lindy taking into account new circumstances, and it seems this experiment will be able to force the couple to take a fresh look at their relationship ...

In films about family conflicts, the main thing is to maintain a balance. A little more conflict, and instead of an artistic narrative, depression will turn out to be lovingly played, a little more humor, and the idiocy of one of the spouses, or even both at once, will go beyond the line that still allows you to identify the characters with yourself, and compare their problems with your own. Here, the creators of the series seem to have succeeded: the communication of the spouses looks natural, and the adventures of mini-Lindy are really funny. And the analogy is simple to the point of transparency: a fragile woman needs care, no matter how you look at it. A kind series, generally reconciling.

A young genius, programmer Martin Fister entered Stanford at the age of 15 and is now working on creating an AI application for psychological assistance to schoolchildren suffering from loneliness. Customers, however, do not know that Fister himself has not been able to communicate with people since childhood, is unable to find a common language even with his own daughter and prefers a reclusive life. His business colleague Duncan, the director of a data collection company, has come up with a great way to take advantage of his own developments and is trying to offer the spy program he wrote to the rich Zach Galifianakis, but he cannot find a common language with him sufficiently for a single serious conversation...

For many years, from the pages of the media, Silicon Valley has presented itself to the whole world as a kind of technological paradise, where programming geniuses use slides instead of stairs in offices, meditate in the workplace and test robot servants in their spare time. Now, when the world of high technology is causing more anxiety than trust, it's time to look at the underside of the Silicon Valley phenomenon — a place where everyone seems to be run by psychos with teenage complexes, which they are unable to part with to gray hairs. So they are millionaires who make money from other people's social media addictions! The rich cry too, and that's a good thing. A feeling of deep satisfaction is inevitable — albeit involuntary, but therefore only more pleasant.

John Creasy was once one of the best special forces soldiers who could survive even the most difficult operations. But after the service, he faced severe post-traumatic stress disorder and is now trying to find a place in this world where he could live in peace, forgetting about gunshots and blood. However, fate dictates otherwise: Creasy has to take under protection the little daughter of a deceased comrade, who is in danger of death, and soon realizes that a ruthless secret structure is hunting the girl and her family, which will stop at nothing, pursuing its own goals. John Creasy once again has to join the battle and simultaneously wage a war against murderers and his own inner demons...

The main role in the series was played by Yahya Abdul Mateen II, a black actor whose name and appearance fully match his role as a ruthless killer, whom he convincingly portrayed in a number of paintings — from Candyman to Aquaman. On the other side of the law, as it turned out, he also looks decent. Large-scale shootouts, powerful explosions and tough contact fights are guaranteed.

If you want to refresh your impressions of recognized hits, then you can find the most discussed projects from different years in the new monthly Russian rating of TV series from Medialogia.
