A driver from the Murmansk region is awaiting trial for fatally hitting a pensioner

A criminal investigation into the death of an 85-year-old woman under the wheels of a car has been completed in the Murmansk region. The materials have already been submitted to the court for consideration, according to the joint press service of the courts of the region.

The defendant in the case is a 64-year-old motorist from Kovdorsky district. The accident with his participation occurred in December 2025, when he "violated traffic rules and ran over an 85-year-old woman."

As a result of the collision, the pensioner received various injuries, from which she died in hospital. A criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person"), Bi-port news agency clarifies.

The investigation has now been completed, and the materials have been submitted to the district court. The man faces up to five years in prison.

In January, it was reported that the investigation of a criminal case against a motorist from the city of Severomorsk, who got behind the wheel under the influence of drugs and caused a fatal accident, had been completed. Driving a Lexus RX350, she seriously exceeded the speed limit and crashed into a Renault Duster. The driver of the crossover died on the spot.
