On Monday, March 30, another lesson from the series "Conversations about important things" will be held in Russian schools and colleges. Izvestia tells about how the lesson will be held in different classes.
"Talking about important things" on March 30 — the topic of the lesson
The topic of the new lesson was not chosen by chance. Children and teenagers face anxiety on a daily basis — in their studies, communication and daily life. As part of the lesson, students will be asked to understand the nature of this feeling, to understand why it arises and what role it plays in human behavior.
Special attention will be paid to the development of emotional intelligence. The children will be taught how to recognize their own reactions to stressful situations, analyze their experiences and find ways to manage them. An important part will be the development of basic self-regulation techniques that can be applied in different situations. For example, before exams, exams, and other exciting events.
Students will also be taught why it is important to take care of themselves, follow the daily routine, pay attention to rest and develop healthy habits. In general, the lesson is designed not only to reduce anxiety, but also to increase self-confidence, promote the formation of useful attitudes that help to maintain calm and self-confidence.
During the lesson, the teacher organizes a video interview with Russian figure skater Anna Shcherbakova. The Olympic champion will share her personal experience of how she prepares for responsible starts, what thoughts she has before going on the ice, and how she manages to stay focused during her performance.
The lesson will take the form of an educational conversation using presentations, video materials and interactive elements. The recommended duration of the lesson is 30 minutes. Methodological materials and recommendations can be found on the project's website.
"Conversations about important things" March 30 — lesson program
In elementary school, in grades 1-4, conversation is built in a playful and visual form. Children will be shown short educational videos in which the characters face the excitement and learn to cope with it. After watching, the children will discuss what they saw, share their own experiences and perform practical exercises, including trying out breathing techniques to cope with anxiety.
In grades 5-7, the topic is revealed through a more informed discussion of emotions. Students will watch thematic videos explaining the mechanisms of excitement and its effects on the body. Then they will complete tasks on emotion recognition, discuss typical stressful situations at school and try to find ways to overcome them. At the end, the guys will write short memos with practical recommendations on how to deal with the excitement of an important event.
For students in grades 8-9, the focus is on understanding the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behavior. During the lesson, the teacher will offer video materials with real-life examples, as well as interactive elements that aim to analyze their own reactions. Students will discuss the causes of anxiety before exams and draw up a personal plan of action in a stressful situation that can be applied to the OGE.
For students in grades 10-11 and college students, the lesson is based around discussing the upcoming serious challenges: passing the Unified State Exam, admission to university and the first steps in a career. From video interviews with a psychologist and successful young professionals, they will learn about burnout prevention methods and the importance of sleep and nutrition for stress tolerance. The discussion also focuses on planning techniques and setting realistic goals that reduce uncertainty and, consequently, anxiety.
Thus, during the lesson, schoolchildren and students will come to an important conclusion that the ability to cope with anxiety is a skill that can and should be trained, and taking care of their mental health is the basis for a harmonious life and successful professional activity.
