Passenger car production in Russia increased by 9%
In the first two months of 2026, 113 thousand passenger cars rolled off Russian assembly lines, which is 1.7% lower than in the same period last year. At the same time, 66.1 thousand cars were produced in February, which is 8.6% more than a year ago. This follows from a recent Rosstat report.
The production of trucks in January-February decreased by 33.1% and amounted to 15 thousand units. In February, the output amounted to 9.3 thousand units (-31.3%).
According to the results of the first two months, the production of buses with a maximum weight of more than 5 tons amounted to 1073 units (-21.4%), buses weighing no more than 5 tons — 886 units (-40.9%). The February figures were 22.6% and 40.1% lower than last year, respectively.
In addition, in January-February, Russia produced 23.5 thousand internal combustion engines for motor vehicles. This is 28.2% less than a year ago. Over the last winter month in the country, the production of internal combustion engines decreased by 27.9%.
The day before, it was reported that the company in Nizhny Novgorod had completed the preparation of infrastructure and equipment for the mass production of models of the revived Volga brand. The first car has already started its journey along the assembly line. The first Volga model was announced on March 19, this is the Volga K50 crossover, the launch of sales of the SUV is scheduled for the summer of 2026.
