The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the Saratov Region, together with employees of the Federal Security Service (FSB), has opened a criminal case against a 53-year-old local resident accused of preparing for a terrorist act. This was announced on March 26 by the official representative of the TFR Svetlana Petrenko.

"The Investigative Committee, in cooperation with the FSB, suppressed the terrorist activity of a 53-year-old resident of the Saratov region. He is accused of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Preparation for a terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior agreement")," Petrenko said.

According to investigators, the man, acting on instructions from the Ukrainian special services, received the coordinates of a cache containing explosives, ammunition, detonators, two quadrocopters, as well as instructions on assembling explosive devices and launching drones. The curators, through foreign messengers, gave him instructions on assembling and configuring drones, connecting explosive devices to them, and coordinated the choice of a launch site.

For a monetary reward of at least 1.5 million rubles, the accused had to manufacture improvised explosive devices and attack a military airfield using two drones. The attacker was detained by officers of the FSB of Russia. The investigation intends to apply for his detention.
