All private medical organizations in the Sverdlovsk region have excluded the procedure of artificial termination of pregnancy from the list of services provided. This was announced on March 26 by the regional Ministry of Health.

The termination of abortions by private clinics in the region was reported by local media.

"We confirm," the press service of the ministry said, answering a question about the situation to Interfax.

It is indicated that private medical institutions began to abandon the procedure in December last year.

The measures are aimed at increasing the birth rate and reducing the number of abortions.

Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said on March 24 that the decision on abortion should be made by the woman herself, after consulting with loved ones. According to him, this approach is more correct than applying pressure.

On January 20, the press service of the Patriarchal Commission on Family, Maternity and Childhood Protection reported that in 2025, 329 Russian private clinics refused licenses for abortions, while in 15 regions all commercial institutions made such a decision. It was clarified that 89 regions of the country supported the initiative of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to restrict abortions.
