Extracurricular hour: a schoolboy attacked a classmate and teachers in Chelyabinsk

The circumstances of the incident in Chelyabinsk

An incident involving a teenager occurred in one of the schools in Chelyabinsk, as a result of which a student was injured.

According to preliminary information from the press service of the government of the Chelyabinsk region, on the morning of March 26, a student of the 9th grade of Secondary school No. 32 brought a plastic crossbow, a gas canister and a signal pistol to the educational institution. In the school building, he committed an armed attack on a classmate, after which he jumped out of a recreation window on the fourth floor.

As a result of the incident, both teenagers were injured and were hospitalized. According to the regional Ministry of Health, two ambulance crews promptly arrived at the scene.

The victims were taken to the Chelyabinsk Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, where they received the necessary assistance. Currently, their condition is assessed as stable, there is no threat to their lives, and they are under medical supervision. The attacker, according to authorities, suffered leg injuries when falling from a height.

The principal of the school where the incident occurred, in a conversation with Izvestia, said that the situation was stabilized, there was no threat to the health of children and teachers. The training process in the second shift was canceled, and classes will be held as usual on March 27.

According to her, the staff acted according to the established algorithm, the danger was localized, psychologists continue to work with children. The police will comment on all the details of the incident after the check is completed.

The work of the investigative authorities

The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Chelyabinsk region has opened three criminal cases. They are qualified under Part 3 of Article 30 and paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (attempted murder of two or more persons), Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code (negligence), as well as Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet the requirements of safety of life and health of citizens).

According to investigators, a 15-year-old teenager fired a shot from an object similar to a rocket launcher into the face of a peer. After that, he was injured while trying to escape. Currently, both the attacker and the victim are in a medical facility, their lives are not in danger.

Law enforcement officers are working at the scene. Investigators and criminologists are conducting an inspection, as well as a set of investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances, causes and conditions of the incident.

On behalf of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, a commission from the regional Ministry of Education has begun work at the school. The regional authorities said that the situation is under control, the circumstances of the incident continue to be clarified.

A series of attacks in educational institutions

The incident in Chelyabinsk occurred against the background of a series of attacks in Russian educational institutions recorded in recent months. On February 19, a seventh-grader attacked a classmate with a knife at a school in Alexandrovsk, Perm Krai. The teenager inflicted several blows to the body and neck area. The victim was hospitalized in serious condition, and was subsequently evacuated to a specialized medical facility.

According to investigators, the reason for the attack was a conflict between schoolchildren. An interdepartmental commission has been set up in the region, and classes in all schools in the city have been temporarily suspended, strengthening security measures.

In February, attacks also occurred in Ufa: one of the students carried out an armed attack with an air gun on classmates and a teacher, another teenager attacked students of a medical university with a knife. Several people were injured.

A number of incidents have been recorded in other regions. In Krasnoyarsk, a schoolgirl set fire to a fire after discussing her actions on social media. In Anapa, an attack took place at an industrial college — a security officer was killed, and there are injured.

Criminal cases were initiated on all the facts. The investigating authorities are checking the circumstances of the incident, including possible violations by educational institutions and prevention systems.
