In Primorye, suspects were detained in extortion from relatives of the victims in their homeland.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Ussuriysk, together with the Directorate of the Federal Security Service (UFSB) in the Primorsky Territory, stopped the activities of a group of people suspected of extorting funds from relatives of those killed in the special military operation zone (SVO). This was announced on March 25 in the press service of the Main directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Primorsky Territory.

"During the operational search activities, three citizens of the Russian Federation (two previously convicted men born in 1981 and 1979 and a previously convicted woman born in 1993) involved in organizing a criminal group were detained," the Telegram channel said.

It is clarified that the suspects, using far-fetched reasons, extorted money from the mothers and wives of servicemen who died while performing combat missions as part of a special military operation.

The press service added that the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Ussuriysk has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under paragraph "b" of Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code ("Extortion committed by a group of persons by prior agreement, on an especially large scale").

It is noted that the total damage caused to the victims exceeds 3 million rubles. An investigative check is currently underway to establish all episodes of criminal activity, as well as to identify possible accomplices.

On March 15, the LizaAlert search and rescue squad reported that fraudsters, posing as volunteers of the squad, were contacting relatives of missing servicemen and allegedly offering assistance in their search. In such cases, representatives of the detachment advise relatives to contact the military commissariats, as well as the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, to obtain official information.
