One of the former owners of the Listvyazhnaya mine in the Kemerovo region, Vladimir Gridin, was charged in absentia with abuse of authority and put on the international wanted list. This became known on March 26 after studying the relevant documents.

According to TASS, Gridin fled the investigation in Monaco in 2021 after an accident that killed 51 people. He was also a State Duma deputy from 2007 to 2015, and served as Deputy Chairman of the Transport Committee.

"Vladimir Gridin absconded from the preliminary investigation authorities, and was charged in absentia with committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 201 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Abuse of authority in a commercial organization that entailed grave consequences," Ed.). In this regard, the accused has been put on the international wanted list," the documents say.

Now Gridin faces up to 10 years in prison.

Lawyer of film critic Ekaterina Barabash (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) Mikhail Biryukov announced on March 25 that a journalist had been sentenced in absentia to five years in prison by a court in the Moscow region. According to the defender, she was also banned from administering Internet sites for three years after her release.
