The crew of the Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) of the Guards anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Center group of forces destroyed two ballistic missiles of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system fired by militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) at the positions of Russian military personnel in the Dobropolsky area of the special operation during combat duty. This was announced on March 26 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

It is specified that the targets were identified using radar reconnaissance equipment. After receiving the data, the Buk-M3 crew captured and escorted targets, put the system on alert and launched anti-aircraft guided missiles. As a result, the APU shells were eliminated.

After completing the combat mission, the Buk-M3 air defense system crew quickly changed their firing position, taking measures to disguise and hide the combat vehicle, which eliminated the possibility of a retaliatory strike.

"We're on, we're on. They were accompanied by two ballistic targets. The machine recognized it as a MLRS target. <...> Upon receipt of the command, the target was destroyed," said Lieutenant, deputy commander of the battery Ildar Yarmukhomedov.

He added that the calculation works on cruise missiles, MLRS and guided aerial bombs. According to Yarmukhomedov, the machine recognizes many types of targets at long range.

In addition, Guard junior sergeant, senior operator Alexander Bukin noted that after capturing a target, information is transmitted to the chief of the calculation, who asks for permission to destroy it. He specified that the Buk-M3 can accompany a target located at a distance of 85 km.

On March 25, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that calculations of FPV fighter drones of the Zapad group of forces destroyed five heavy hexacopter-type UAVs in the air in the Kharkiv region. According to objective control data, the aerial targets were eliminated by ramming.
