The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed outrage at the repeated attack on the Bushehr nuclear power plant

Moscow is outraged by the repeated reckless strikes near the Bushehr nuclear power plant, which could provoke an environmental and humanitarian catastrophe. This was announced on March 25 by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"We are extremely outraged by this reckless, irresponsible manifestation of a destructive course. It seems that the aggressors are deliberately trying to arrange a large—scale nuclear catastrophe in the region in order to conceal and justify their criminal actions, which have already caused numerous innocent victims among the Iranian civilian population," the ministry said in a statement posted on its website.

The ministry added that the consequences of the strike on the Bushehr NPP should be known to Israel and the United States no worse than to Russia, but they purposefully continue to threaten the civilian population of the region and, unacceptable to Moscow, the Russian nuclear power plant personnel.

The ministry demanded to stop delivering devastating blows and said they were waiting for an immediate reaction from international organizations.

On March 24, the Iranian government informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about a shell hitting the Bushehr NPP building. According to the IAEA, the station has not received any confirmations, and no personnel have been injured.

Alexey Likhachev, the head of Rosatom, said that Rosatom is temporarily reducing the number of its specialists at the Bushehr NPP to a minimum. He noted that the situation at the station is developing according to a negative scenario. The day before, a decision was made on the third stage of staff evacuation. Later, 163 people were evacuated from the nuclear power plant.
