Izvestia correspondent Poltoranin was attacked by dealers in "beautiful" state plates

On March 25, employees of a company illegally selling "beautiful" license plates for cars attacked Alexey Poltoranin, a correspondent for Izvestia, who was investigating the company's activities.

The incident occurred in the office of the company "Beautiful series". Poltoranin came there under the guise of a buyer to find out details about the schemes for selling government numbers. The company's employees suspected that Poltoranin was a journalist, surrounded and attacked him. The men took the correspondent's phone and punched him several times in the stomach.

Poltoranin was hospitalized. Doctors diagnosed him with a traumatic brain injury and an abdominal injury. Subsequently, the Izvestia film crew arrived at the scene to find out the reasons for the attack on the journalist. At first, the employees of the "Beautiful Series" did not want to open the office door and tried to escape, but soon the owner of the company Pavel Poghosyan came out to talk.

"You've confused me with someone else," he replied when asked by Izvestia why the company's employees attacked the correspondent.

At the same time, other employees refused to answer Izvestia's questions, were rude to journalists and tried to break the videographer's camera.

Alexey Poltoranin is a military correspondent for Izvestia, awarded the Medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree, and the Medal for Bravery. He shot reports in war zones.

A group of Izvestia journalists was injured in Donetsk on October 31, 2023, while filming at the site of the shelling of the city by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Three correspondents were hospitalized. Poltoranin was among them, he received shrapnel wounds.
