On March 25, People's Artist of the USSR, conductor Yuri Bashmet, in a conversation with Izvestia at the award ceremony of the President of the Russian Federation for young cultural workers in 2025, noted the special importance of awards for creative children.
In a conversation with Izvestia correspondent Igor Baldin, Bashmet said that awards give young creators an impetus for further development.
"That is, he understands that he is needed, and this gives him strength," the conductor shared.
Bashmet stressed that today it is very important that new talented and young artists with a unique perspective on art appear in the country.
"Therefore, we need to look for where you can be the first. That you will do something that [Director General of the Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theaters] Valery Gergiev did not do," the conductor concluded.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated cultural figures on their professional holiday and held an award ceremony in the field of culture. In addition, the head of state noted that the work of cultural figures is a source of inspiration for the whole country.
