- The Museum of Moscow presented the treasure found in 2026 from the Bersenevskaya embankment
On March 25, the Museum of Moscow presented the treasure found in 2026 from the Bersenevskaya embankment.
"The rarity and significance of today's event lies in the fact that in the main exposition of the Museum of Moscow, dedicated to the history of Moscow, we are displaying today for the first time to the general public a treasure that was found literally this year, on February 7, here nearby, on Bersenevskaya Embankment in the chambers of Duma clerk Averky Kirillov," said the general director of the Museum. Moscow Anna Trapkova.
According to her, the coin hoard totals more than 85 thousand units and, in fact, it is the second most important treasure in the history of Moscow and Moscow archeology in terms of size, which was found on the territory of the city, after the Gostiny Dvor treasure. Trapkova added that this event itself allows us to look even deeper into the history of the capital.
"A ceramic model of these chambers was presented at the exhibition here, and now there is a whole story connected with these chambers," the general director added.
On February 13, the press service of the Department of Cultural Heritage of the capital reported that during the restoration of an object of cultural heritage of federal significance — the chambers of Duma clerk Averky Kirillov on Bersenevskaya Embankment — a treasure was discovered in the center of the capital. Experts found a split black–flattened jug and over 20 thousand coins made of white metal of the XVI-XVII centuries.
