Moscow Mayor awarded composer Alexander Zatsepin

The Mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin, awarded outstanding cultural workers in honor of a professional holiday. Among them is the legendary composer Alexander Zatsepin, who recently turned 100 years old.

Sobyanin presented Zatsepin with a badge of distinction "For his impeccable service to the city of Moscow" for 50 years. "His magical music has captured the hearts of millions, graced films that have become film classics, and has become truly popular," the mayor of the capital wrote on his Facebook channel.

Elena Zolina, a teacher at the Moscow State College of Musical Performance named after F. Chopin, also received the badge of distinction. In addition, honorary titles and commendations were awarded to the directors of the capital's theaters, library staff, ensemble artists and other Muscovites.

Nine people, including Sergei Popov, an artist-trainer at the Grandpa Durov Corner Theater, were awarded the title of "Honorary Artist of the City of Moscow." Nine more people received the title of "Honorary Cultural Worker of the city of Moscow." Among them is Galina Filatova, the tailor of men's dresses at the Gorky Film Studio.

Andrey Borisov, General Director of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater, was thanked. Maxim Zabelin, Head of the Department of International Relations at the Central City Business Library, and Vitaly Kischenko, an artist at the Mossovet State Academic Theater, were also awarded. The General Director of the Zaryadye Moscow Concert Hall was awarded the gratitude of the Russian government.

"It is difficult to overestimate the contribution of culture to the life of every person. She is a part of our soul, her works fill us with light and goodness, give strength and inspire us to do great things," Sobyanin stressed.
