- The expert assessed the prospects for the development of the conflict between Ukraine and Hungary
Different outcomes are possible in the conflict between Ukraine and Hungary. This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacekeeping Initiatives and Conflictology, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
"The key event will be the Hungarian parliamentary elections. If the political leadership in the country changes, instead of the Fidesz party [Hungarian Prime Minister] If Viktor Orban comes to Peter Magyar's "Tisa", then there will be a certain warming between Kiev and Budapest. If the current authorities maintain their positions, the conflicts will continue," he suggested.
After the elections, the severity of the confrontation will decrease in any case, the expert admitted. However, spikes will continue to occur periodically.
Earlier, Orban announced that Budapest was stopping gas supplies to Ukraine. According to him, the decision will remain in effect until Kiev unblocks the Druzhba oil pipeline.
Prior to that, Orban called Hungary's energy blockade a grave crime. He pointed out that the supply of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline was stopped by the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, for political reasons in order to create "economic chaos" in the country. According to the politician, Kiev is in cahoots with the ruling class of the EU and the Hungarian opposition.
