The son of a woman, a mother with many children, who died in an explosion in an apartment building in Sevastopol, said on March 25 that he did not yet know how the tragedy occurred.
"I have no idea what happened there. An investigation is underway. It came as a shock to me," Ivan Rodikov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
His 20-year-old brother is still listed as missing. Ivan himself and his family live at a different address. It is known that the 50-year-old landlady of the apartment died as a result of the tragedy, and her four daughters, aged 23, 18, 14 and 12, were injured.
On March 24, Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev reported an explosion in a residential apartment building in the city, which killed two people. The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation has opened criminal cases under Article 109 of the Criminal Code ("Causing death by negligence") and Article 222.1 ("On the illegal acquisition and storage of an unidentified explosive device").
The head of the Gagarin district, Ekaterina Falina, said that at least 40 apartments were damaged at the facility, and the next day she added that at least seven more houses and 15 cars were partially damaged. As a result of the tragedy, two people were killed, and another, the injured 14—year-old girl, is in a very serious condition.
