The level of gas reserves in Dutch storage facilities has dropped to 5.8% of the maximum capacity, reaching the lowest level in the last decade. This was reported on March 25 by the Reuters news agency.

The agency notes that the reduction of gas reserves in the country is taking place against the background of the conflict in the Middle East.

"The reduction in supplies associated with the war in the Middle East and the sharp rise in prices caused by it makes it "uncertain" whether market participants will be able to bring stocks in storage facilities to the required level by November 2026," the material says.

Dutch gas distribution network operator Gasunie added that gas reserves will decrease even more before the start of the storage refueling season, which begins in April.

However, it is noted that there is currently no reason to worry about gas supplies to the Netherlands, as liquefied natural gas (LNG) flows are stable and winter is over.

Gunnar Lindemann, a deputy from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, said on the same day that the White House was using the war with Iran to gain economic advantages. According to Lindemann, those close to US President Donald Trump, and possibly the head of the White House himself, may be involved in oil deals due to their connections and access to first-hand information.

Before that, on March 24, the portal NU.nl He said that in the Netherlands, companies are forced to suspend fishing, which is the main industry of the country, due to a sharp increase in fuel prices. The representative of the Dutch Fishermen's Union, Durk van Teynen, said that the cost of fuel had almost doubled after the start of the US and Israeli military operation against Iran.
