In the summer season of 2026, knitted trousers are becoming not just a trend, but a symbol of a new tactile and visually light fashion. Anna Skorokhodova, stylist, accessories designer, and founder of the by SKOROKHODOVA brand, told Izvestia about this on March 25.
According to her, after the long dominance of denim, the industry is looking for new sensations in the texture, handiwork and texture of clothing.
"Today, the key technique in stylization is contrast. Knitted trousers are worn not only in the usual boho aesthetic, but also with stiff leather jackets, architectural shirts and minimalist tops. Large leather belts, sandals, vintage glasses and accent bags are suitable as accessories," the expert explained.
According to her, the color palette of knitted trousers is divided into two directions: calm, expensive shades (milk, cream, sand, chocolate) and bright, emotional (lime, coral, sunny yellow, turquoise). Skorokhodova noted that color works as an emotion and accent shades should sound loud and attractive.
The main advantage of knitted trousers over jeans is the feeling of freedom. They are lighter, more plastic and better suited for hot climates, creating a complex visual effect due to texture. Knitted trousers are not just a basic thing, but a stylistic tool that makes the image thoughtful, feminine and interesting.
At the same time, the designer acknowledged that for a wide audience, knitted trousers are still associated with vacations and beach aesthetics, which raises concerns about excessive transparency or complexity of combining with a casual wardrobe. For representatives of the fashion industry, this is already a new base, an element of the image that conveys the aesthetics of a relaxed suite.
To make trousers look appropriate in the city, the designer advises combining them with more strict and structural items — jackets, shirts, vests and laconic shoes. She also stressed the importance of product care: washing should be delicate, drying should be in a horizontal position, and storage should be folded rather than on a hanger. This will keep the shape and turn the item into an investment part of the wardrobe, rather than a one-time item.
"Today, knitted trousers are replacing jeans not because they are more comfortable, but because they are more interesting. Modern fashion chooses versatile silhouettes that allow you to create a variety of combinations and stylistic solutions," concluded Skorokhodova.
