Lake Alabashevo, located within Tyumen in the middle of a residential area on the floodplain of the Tura River, may disappear. This opinion was expressed by local historian Alexander Petrushin.

"Lake Alabashevo cannot be saved. It can dry out, just like the Tura. It also needs to be cleaned. This is a closed lake, there is no special recharge, except for meltwater," the expert said in an interview with the news agency " <url>".

According to the expert, despite the abundance of snow this year, by Easter it will all go away with the water. Clearing the reservoir will improve the situation, but will not save it from complete shallowing, he added.

According to the newspaper, in five years the average depth of the lake has decreased 168 to 30 cm. The city authorities are trying to save Alabashevo from shallowing by clearing the channels connecting it with the Tura.

It was assumed that a park would be built next to the reservoir, but the businessmen who leased the territory terminated the contract for water use. One of the reasons was the prolonged clearing of the lake — it was forbidden to hold any events during the work.

Earlier it was reported that a new park will be built in the Zarechnaya part of Tyumen. There will be no sports and playgrounds, and the green area will be left natural.
