Elevated levels of benzene, which can cause cancer, have been found in gas used in everyday life in several Western European cities. This is evidenced on March 25 by the report of the California non-profit research institute PSE Healthy Energy.

It was emphasized that all 72 samples were taken from seven sites located in Britain, the Netherlands and Italy.

"In all cities, the average concentration of benzene in gas ranged from nine to 73 times higher than the North American average," the text says.
