Moscow is one of the three cities in the world with the largest number of cultural events and attractions. Sergey Sobyanin announced this in his channel in the MAX messenger. Residents of the capital and tourists visited Moscow cultural institutions 340 million times in 2025, setting a record for the number of visits.

According to the study "Impression Economics Analysis" conducted by the Agency for Creative Industries in 2024, tourists coming to Moscow primarily celebrate cultural heritage and architecture (33%), as well as museums and exhibitions (26%), parks (22%), theatrical productions and concerts (17%).

The city authorities plan to further develop the cultural and tourist potential of the city. Thus, in accordance with the objectives of the Moscow government in the field of culture for 2026, approved by the mayor of the city, the organization of a creative cluster on the territory of the Moskino film factory will be completed this year. Comprehensive landscaping of Gorky Park, Sokolniki Park, Kuzminki-Lyublino Museum-Reserve, Ostankino Estate, Bauman Garden, Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve and a number of other recreation and recreation areas in the capital will also be carried out. In addition, a number of theatrical institutions will be improved, including the Moscow State Academic Operetta Theater, the Moscow Oleg Tabakov Theater, the Mossovet State Academic Theater and the Moscow Academic Satire Theater.
